Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has received a major order from Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) for supply and installation of the main plant package for a power project in Andhra Pradesh, involving two thermal power generating units of 600 MW each. The contract, valued at Rs.40,710 million , envisages setting up a 2×600 MW thermal power generating unit for SCCL’s upcoming coal-based super thermal power project, located at Adilabad in Andhra Pradesh. BHEL’s scope of work in the contract envisages design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of Steam Turbines, Generators and Boilers, along with state-of-the-art Controls and Instrumentation (C&I) and auxiliaries including associated civil work.
Elecon Engineering Company has secured an order from Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited (BHEL) for design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, start up, testing and commissioning and PG test for four sets of wagon tippler with side arm charger and commissioning spares for raw materials handling systems project of NMDC steel plant at Nagarnar, Chhattisgarh. The contract is valued at Rs.330 million.
Suzlon Energy has bagged its third consecutive order from GAIL–the gas utility company for supplying wind turbines. The order comprises of 17 units of Suzlon’s S82 – 1.5 MW wind turbines, to be commissioned in Karnataka in 2012.

BHEL has bagged an EPC contract from Dainik Bhaskar Power for setting up a 1,320-MW thermal power plant in Madhya Pradesh. BHEL’s scope involves design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of supercritical boilers, steam turbines and turbo generators along with state-of-the-art controls and instrumentation (C&I) and other associated auxiliaries like transformers and a switchyard. The contract is valued at Rs.38000 million.
KNR Constructions has bagged a road project from NHAI which entails two-laning of Muzaffarpur-Barauni section of NH-28 from KM 519.6 to KM 627 in Bihar under NHDP phase IVB to be implemented through the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode. The project is to be executed on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis
Punj Lloyd Group has bagged a major contract from Haldia Energy, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Calcutta Electric Supply Company (CESC), for its 600-MW thermal power project. The scope of work for the 2 x 300-mw plant entails balance of plant (BoP) supply and services and BTG erection. It includes detailed engineering of BoP, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation packages. The contract is valued at Rs.1950
ABG Ports Private Ltd, a subsidiary of ABG Infralogistics, has bagged an order from Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust in consortium with PSA Mumbai Investments Pte Ltd. The scope of the contract involves development of the fourth container terminal in Jawaharlal Nehru Port on design, build, finance, operate and transfer basis.
Areva T & D, a part of Alstom Grid has secured a contract from Reliance Power for setting up a 220kV substation for Reliance’s 350-mw Doorsar solar power plant in Rajasthan. The turnkey contract involves design and construction of the substation including transformers, control, protection, monitoring systems and civil works of the plant. The contract is valued at Rs.400 million.
ABB has secured an order from Steel Authority of India for supply of a high-voltage sub-station package to the steel major’s Bhilai plant, in Chhattisgarh. The new high voltage sub-stations will enable the additional power supply needed to support a planned increase in the steel plant’s annual production capacity from 5 million to 7 million tonnes. As per the contract, ABB will supply various products, including switchgear, transformers, cables, fire protection and detection systems apart from installing substation automation systems for the project. The project is to be completed in 2013. The contract is valued at US$ 71 million.
